Where are Iguazu Falls?
Argentina and Brazil share Iguazu Falls. So, you can visit the falls from both sides. You can arrive from Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo with daily flights to Foz do Iguaçu and from there visit the national parks. From Argentina, you can fly to Puerto Iguazu and visit both parks from there.
Which cities are close to Iguazu Falls?
There are three cities close to Iguazu Falls: Puerto Iguazu in Argentina, Foz do Iguazu in Brazil, and Ciudad del Este in Paraguay.
Foz do Iguaçu it’s a city located in the extreme west of the state of Paraná, on the border with Argentina and Paraguay. Its estimated population in 2012 was 255,987 inhabitants and is located 20km away from the entrance of the Brazilian park.
You can also arrive in Puerto Iguazu from Argentina, a small village with 45000 inhabitants. Puerto Iguazú is a city in the province of Misiones, in the extreme northeast of Argentina. This town is located 19km from the Argentinean park.
You also can visit the falls from Paraguay. Ciudad del Este is a city located close to the border from where you can visit both sides of Iguazu Falls.
Airports close to Iguazu Falls
You have three airports close to Iguazu Falls: Aeropuerto Internacional de Foz do Iguaçu (IGU) in Brazil, Aeropuerto Internacional de Puerto Iguazu (IGR) in Argentina, and Aeropuerto Internacional Guaraní (AGT) in Paraguay.
You can fly from Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro to the local airport called Aeropuerto Internacional de Foz do Iguaçu (IGU). Flights from Rio take 2 hours approximately. From Sao Paulo, the flight takes 1:45 mins.
From Buenos Aires you can fly to the Aeropuerto Internacional de Puerto Iguazu (IGR). The flight takes 1:50 hs approx. There are flights to Puerto Iguazu from many other places in Argentina too.
Finally, less usual but also possible is to arrive at Ciudad del Este. The local airport is called Aeropuerto Internacional Guaraní (AGT). Once in Ciudad del Este, you can first visit the falls crossing to Brazil and then to Argentina.
