The walkway to Devil’s Throat (Garganta del Diablo) is not always open. Although it is one of the main attractions on the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls, access may be temporarily suspended because of high river levels, heavy rainfall, maintenance, or safety concerns.
The circuit is particularly sensitive to changes in the Iguazú River. When water levels rise significantly, park authorities may close the walkway as a preventive measure or to carry out inspections and repairs. These closures can last from a few days to much longer, depending on the condition of the infrastructure and the river.
Even when the Devil’s Throat Circuit is closed, Iguazú National Park usually remains open, and visitors can continue exploring other areas of the Argentine side, such as the Upper and Lower Circuits, subject to their own operating conditions.
It is also possible to see the Devil’s Throat area from the Brazilian side, where panoramic viewpoints offer a different perspective of the falls.
