DAY 2 - IGUAZU FALLS

The Argentinian Side of Iguazu Falls

Following breakfast, we will commence our second exploration: the Argentinean Side, which offers the most comprehensive visit at the Iguazu Falls.

The pathways on the Argentinean side of Iguazu Falls offer an enchanting expedition through dense rainforest, granting intimate encounters with the tumbling waterfalls. Here are the primary trails awaiting your exploration:

Lower Circuit (Circuito Inferior): This pathway draws you nearer to the base of the falls, presenting breathtaking perspectives from the lower elevations. Along well-maintained trails and elevated boardwalks, you’ll traverse past numerous cascades, including the iconic Salto Bosetti and Chico. The Lower Circuit invites you to embrace the misty embrace of the falls and witness the tremendous force of the cascading waters.

Upper Circuit (Circuito Superior): On this route, you’ll ascend to elevated viewpoints that overlook the falls and the encompassing scenery. The Upper Circuit unveils panoramic vistas of the cascading waters, providing an alternate viewpoint from the lower levels. Here, you’ll witness the entirety of the waterfall ensemble and admire the vastness of the Iguazu River.

The most renowned and captivating segment of the Argentinean side is the Devil’s Throat. Accessible via a distinct trail and elevated walkway, this path leads you to the precipice of the park’s largest and most formidable waterfall. As you traverse the suspended walkways above the river, you’ll be serenaded by the thunderous roar of the water and enveloped by the rising mist from the chasm below.

For those craving a more daring escapade, the Macuco Trail beckons. This extensive trail winds through the verdant jungle environment, culminating at the Arrechea Waterfall. Along the way, opportunities abound for birdwatching and wildlife encounters amidst the symphony of flowing streams and diverse flora enveloping the trail.

Prepare for an unforgettable immersion in the natural splendor of the Iguazu Falls as we embark on our exploration of the Argentinean Side.

DAY 3 - FROM IGUAZU TO POSADAS

Visiting San Ignacio Mini Ruins

After breakfast, we will start our journey to the south of the Misiones Province to visit the famous San Ignacio Mini Ruins.

The San Ignacio Mini Ruins stand as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, bearing witness to the Jesuit Reductions, settlements crafted by Jesuit missionaries during the 17th and 18th centuries. These efforts aimed to Christianize indigenous communities while safeguarding them from exploitation.

Founded in 1632, San Ignacio Mini emerged as a pivotal Jesuit Reduction, fostering a self-reliant community where indigenous Guarani people thrived under Jesuit guidance. The settlement boasted churches, residences, workshops, and schools, embodying a fusion of European and Guarani architectural styles. Constructed from local red sandstone, the ruins showcase elegant yet straightforward structures, with the stone church commanding attention as the heart of the community.

Despite confronting colonial conflicts and the eventual expulsion of the Jesuits from Spanish territories, the Reductions endured, fostering cultural exchange and societal evolution.

Your journey will delve into the archaeological depths of San Ignacio Mini, where well-preserved remnants tell tales of bygone eras. Guided tours illuminate the significance of the Reductions, showcasing the region’s unique cultural and architectural legacy.

Following your exploration, our path leads to Posadas, the capital of Misiones province, where a night’s rest awaits in a 4-star hotel, complete with breakfast.

DAY 4 - FROM POSADAS TO IBERA WETLANDS

Arrive to Rincon del Socorro Lodge

Following breakfast, our journey will take us southward, traversing into the Corrientes Province. So, we will begin your journey from Posadas, the capital city of the Argentine province of Misiones.

The lodge is located in the Esteros del Iberá, which is approximately 350 kilometers (about 217 miles) from Posadas. The journey takes you through picturesque landscapes typical of the Argentine countryside, including vast plains and small towns.

The road journey can take approximately 4 hours, depending on the route taken and road conditions. Sometimes the route is not in good conditions, so the journey can extend to 5 or 6 hours

Once you arrive at the lodge, you’ll be greeted by the serene surroundings of the Esteros del Iberá. The lodge offers various activities such as wildlife safaris, birdwatching, horseback riding, and boat trips to explore the wetlands and observe the rich biodiversity of the area.

The program includes breakfast, lunches and dinners, and all the activities available at the Rincon del Socorro Lodge.

The available experiences are varied and attractive. The daily activity agenda is scheduled according to the opportunities of the season and the weather.

Wildlife Watching: The hotel is surrounded by rheas, foxes, capybaras, marsh deer, vizcachas, and other animals, allowing guests to enjoy wildlife throughout their stay at Socorro.

Night Safaris: Where it’s possible to see vizcachas, owls, and even be surprised by an elegant maned wolf. On clear nights, the Milky Way is particularly sharp due to the absence of lights and clean air.

Birdwatching: Socorro offers a unique opportunity to observe species as rare as the Collared Plover, Yellow Cardinal, Crowned Eagle, and Jabiru, as well as a wide variety of grassland, forest, and wetland birds.

Trails: Guided or solitary walks along various trails where abundant wildlife can easily be observed, which is especially accustomed to people thanks to decades of protection.

Horseback Riding: Riding through the tall grasslands and along the estuary coast, where diverse landscapes in excellent conservation status and abundant wildlife can be appreciated.

Bike Rides: Rincon del Socorro has easily navigable gravel and short grass paths for biking. You can even bike to the estuary coast.

Boat Trips: You can navigate the Ibera lagoon and enjoy close encounters with floating vegetation, yacare caimans, marsh deer, and a spectacular variety of birds.

Cultural Excursions: In the nearby Uguay settlement, you can share some mate and fried cakes with the locals, learn about their traditional way of life, and observe local crafts and textiles.

Sunset on the Wetlands: Sunsets in Ibera are special. When the sky isn’t covered in intense oranges and lilacs, dense clouds threaten rain and ignite a warm enchanting light.

Kayaking: Exploring the Ibera wetlands by kayak will be a unique experience. Spotting wildlife at water level and skirting the floating vegetation while listening to the birdsong make this activity one of the most interesting we can offer you.

As you can see, the offering is very diverse, and the activities will be distributed throughout your stay so that you can make the most of your time.

Fantastic guide and jaw dropping views of Iguazu Falls

"We had a great tour guide - Lorena Cardenal. She was very calm, extremely knowledgeable about every little detail on Iguazú falls, flora and fauna. She and driver picked us up and dropped us at our hotel and border crossing was so easy with them. She let us spent as much time as we wanted and was cognizant of us taking rest whenever we needed. We saw both sides of Iguazu falls with her. Iguazu falls is so fantastic, no word can describe how beautiful it is and both sides have its own unique features, so see both sides as well as boat ride under water falls on Argentina side was awesome! She even made Matte for us to try, which she made and brought it for us next day. She was so gentle and caring about the park being kept clean. I highly recommend her as your private tour guide.

Iguazu Falls in a day from a cruise ship

"Everything went very smoothly. No complaints at all! My guide Jorge was wonderful. I learned so much from him. Be prepared to walk a lot. Be sure to include the boat ride on the Argentina side. It is well worth it, but be prepared to get drenched! If you go to the Brazilian side, don’t think twice about taking the helicopter for -about $125 USD. It will give you a spectacular view even though it is a short ride. ( I didn’t have time to get to the Brazilian side to do it). I understand the hotels are wonderful, so if you go, do two days if you can. Passing all the information on to a travel agent I know to have anyone interested in going to Iguazu Falls to use this company! I flew at 6 am from Buena Aires to Iguazu Falls and flew back at 8:15! It is easily possible to do this Argentina side in a day.
